Morgs backs fans

Posted on: Mon 10 Aug 2009

Chris Morgan prepares for United's return to the Lane in match action for the first time this season confident that the home support will again be a vital factor.

The second best supported club in the Championship last term open with a Carling Cup-tie against Port Vale on Tuesday but then host Watford (Saturday) and Leicester (Tuesday) in quick succession.

With over 19,000 season tickets sold the Blades will again be amongst the 'leaders' in the attendance league table, despite some healthy looking crowds across the country at the weekend, and the skipper says that the players are forever grateful for that:

"The fans always play a massive part at this Club and we often speak about the support they give the manager and players by coming through the doors and then getting behind us.

"They know what the Chairman is trying to achieve and the second best attendance in the Championship, 37,000plus at Wembley and this season's ticket sales says a lot.

"They will be disappointed about what happened last May and they all want to see top-flight football, but the Championship is and exciting prospect. We will be doing everything we can to win promotion and I am sure that we will have the fans' continued backing."
