Early chance for triallists
Glen Little and Julian Gray, on trial from Portsmouth and Fulham respectively, are included in the United party that on Tuesday departs for Malta.
The pair have been training with the Blades since pre-season work began on Friday and have the opportunity to impress Kevin Blackwell in training and in the friendly clash with Malta Premier outfit Floriana on Friday night.
Before the return to Sheffield on Saturday the Blades will also stage an open training session on Thursday, whilst an advanced party of Blades officials are already on the island, home of the club sponsor, helping organise other events with the Malta Tourism Authority.
A Blades team will feature in the Sun Fun Football Tournament on the island on 8 July . The squad features Blades here Brian Deane, United youngster Travis Binnion, a surprise Maltese player and members of the Sheffield pop band Craine.
They will take on teams from The Grand Hotel Excelsior, Fortina Spa Resort and Maritim Antonine Hotel in a 6 a side Tournament.
A Blades charity evening will be held on Thursday 9th July when guests will have the opportunity to mingle with the Sheffield United first team squad, as well as getting an autograph and photograph with the players.
It will be held at the Excelsior Yacht Club, where local singing star Ira Losco will be joining Craine to provide the entertainment.
