United open their Championship campaign with a blockbuster away trip to Teesside to take on newly relegated trip Middlesborough on 8th August, with Watford providing the first home opposition a week later.

Although the Lane stages the first Steel City derby on 19th September there is a seven month gap before the return in April.

The Blades entertain South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers in October but start the double header with Barnsley at Oakwell a month later.

The festive season sees a Boxing Day trip to Leicester City and Preston North End at the Lane two days later.

Title favourites Newcastle United visit on 31st October and should the Blades still be needing points on the last day of the season they will have to get them from Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
