Beattie leaves the Lane

James Beattie will become a Stoke City player for a fee that could rise to £3.5m.

The striker will return to the Premiership after agreement between the clubs and player was reached on Monday evening.

Kevin Blackwell said: "It is a tremendous opportunity that has come along for James and we are sure he will be an outstanding player for Stoke City.

"It has been terrific working with him and everyone at Bramall Lane wishes him all the best.
