Bromby back at Bramall Lane
The popular defender has become Kevin Blackwell's first capture of the January transfer window. The 28-year-old has signed on loan until the end of the season when an agreed, undisclosed purchase will be completed.
"I'm buzzing, delighted to be back. I didn't really want to leave in the first place and I've jumped at the chance to come back," Bromby told sufc.co.uk
"There were other opportunities but when I heard United was in for me this was the move. I know a lot of the lads and it will be great to get re-acquainted. I've not worked with Kevin (Blackwell) but I've heard good things."
Bromby added: "The team is flying at the moment but I want to get back into the team as soon as possible. The fans know what I'm about and I'd like to think that I've improved in the year I've been away."
Bromby is cup-tied in the FA Cup having come on as a late substitute in the Hornets' third round victory over Scunthorpe United last week but is available to face his former team on Saturday in the Championship.
He left Bramall Lane in January 2008, headed for Vicarage Road after a fee of around £600,000 was agreed. He has already played 125 times for the Blades.
