More than a dozen companies clocking up a total of almost 1000 years in business have been recognised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
The 14 businesses received the accolades as part of the 'Celebration of Business' presentations, which took place during the Chamber's 152nd annual general meeting (AGM) at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Hotel.
New Chamber President Nick Tovey and chief executive Nigel Tomlinson presented the awards to the companies.
Blundells, TEK Personnel Consultants, Universal Alloys, The Famous Sheffield Shop, Anchor Magnets and Sheffield Taxi Trade Association all received certificates for trading for more than 25 years.
Dormer Tools, Westfield Health, AWSaws, Amey, JCI Sheffield and Irwin Mitchell were in the 75-year plus category, while Sheffield Forgemasters and Sheffield United FC gained recognition for more than 100 years in business.
It is the second successive year for the presentations and Mr Tomlinson believes the presentations have been an important way of supporting businesses.
He said: "It is vital for the long-term commercial success of Sheffield to have well established businesses in the city. All these companies have supported and improved the economy of Sheffield for many years and this is our way of recognising that achievement."
Meanwhile, nine new Chamber council members were appointed at the AGM.
The additions include Zoe Holland from Ashton Morton Slack, David Hughes of BT Local Business, Tim Hale at Champion Hire, Jabo Higiro from Jabo Enterprises, Steve Slinn of Premier Contract Cleaning, Peter Wood from Sheffield Technology Parks, Sheffield United's Jason Rockett, Glyn Chandler of TEK Personnel Consultants and Westfield Health's Jill Davies.
All will be tasked with promoting the Chamber as the leading business forum within the city region, as well as representing the membership through the work of its various committees and forums.
