Blades fans give Kyle the thumbs up

Posted on: Fri 17 Apr 2009

England U21 boss Stuart Pearce says that Blades star Kyle Naughton has the opportunity to establish himself as a regular within the Three Lions setup, starting on Tuesday when Bramall Lane plays host to the friendly international against the Czech Republic.

Pearce believes Naughton will have a bright future in the game, with both club and country and he thinks Blades boss Kevin Blackwell will ensure the former United Academy graduate continue to progress and improve:

"The biggest enlightenment for me was when I came to watch him at Bramall Lane and all the fans knew what I was here for.

"They knew straight away that I was there to watch Kyle and sometimes in those circumstances you don't have to do your homework. The fans told me how well he was doing and he certainly proved that in the game.

"You can play a few games and suddenly get elevated onto the international scene, but it is so important you keep doing the right things and keep performing.

"Kyle seems a rounded lad, in the brief time we have shared the same company and going out on-loan last year looks like it has done him the world of good. Kevin will look after him here and he will be a credit to Sheffield United."
