Preston North End midfielder Richard Chaplow has won the August Powerade Player of the Month Award in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Chaplow started the season in terrific form for the Lilywhites, scoring two goals and helping Alan Irvine's men to three wins and a draw in their opening four fixtures. Both of his goals proved crucial, with a late goal sealing a win at home to Crystal Palace before a second half strike secured a point at Sheffield Wednesday. This left the Lilywhites sitting second in the table heading into September.
Also short-listed for the August award were Sebastian Larsson of Birmingham City, Ferrie Bodde of Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Chris Iwelumo.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month Awards panel, said: ""He's had a great month and really got his career back on track at Preston. He was a very talented young lad at Burnley, got a great move to West Brom but unfortunately it didn't work out. Now he's at Preston, and really producing the goods on a consistent basis."
Danny Graham of Carlisle United won the award in League 1 and Soloman Taiwo of Dagenham & Redbridge landed the League 2 accolade.
The Powerade Awards panel, chaired by Sky Sports pundit and Coca-Cola Ambassador Chris Kamara, made the decision. The panel also includes Steve Bates, Chairman of the Football Writers' Association, Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation and James Williams, Head of Brand Experience, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
