Injury update
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell gave a run down on the current injury situation at Bramall Lane and he admits it has left him short of options in certain areas of the team.
On-loan Lee Martin is set for another scan on his knee and if the expected outcome is correct then the winger will return to Old Trafford for treatment:
"Lee looks like he has nicked his cartilage, so he is having a scan on Friday or Monday. If the worst case scenario is confirmed he would go back to Manchester United, and I guess they would want their medical team to look after him anyway."
Blackwell then explained Chris Armstrong's injury, which has left him short of options on the left-hand side, although he reserved some special praise for Keith Gillespie and David Carney:
"Chris has a groin strain that he got before the Plymouth game, so he will be out of action for up to a fortnight.
"That has definitely left us a bit short, but sometimes you need people filling in and doing a job, that is team spirit.
"Keith has done a good job, especially against Coventry, whilst David Carney is doing well, although he is still learning and adapting to the tempo that I want him to play at."
Looking at the long-term injury victims, Blackwell says it is unlikely that Danny Webber or Nick Montgomery will feature again this season due to knee and foot injuries respectively:
"Danny is going in for another operation on his knee. He keeps getting inflammation around the area so there is something not right and we must get to the bottom of it. He is seeing the surgeon next week and it will probably be four to five weeks out from there.
"Nick Montgomery is desperate to get back involved but given the injury I can't risk him, because if things went wrong it would set him back months."
