Hendrie Midlands bound

Posted on: Thu 28 Feb 2008

Lee Hendrie is poised to make a switch to Championship rivals Leicester City on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder played for the Blades Reserves on Wednesday afternoon and has suffered a string of injuries that have hampered his bid to establish himself following his summer move from Aston Villa.

Kevin Blackwell confirmed the news immediately after the FA Cup-tie at Middlesbrough and explained:

"The lad wants games and I am not going to stand in his way. It eases our budgets a little and we have a 24 hour recall that can be triggered after 28 days."

Hendrie, who will joing former Blades Barry Hayles under manager Ian Holloway, has made nine league and cup starts for United with five more as a sub.
