Bryan Robson has brought Wigan's David Cotterill into his squad and knows exactly what the Welsh international will bring to the party.

Robson, a keen admirer of the 20 year old, told www.sufc.co.uk that he had been chasing the versatile Welshman for a while:

"I have been watching him for a long time and I tried getting him earlier in the season, but Steve Bruce had only just arrived at the JJB.

"He is very direct and quick, and can play either on the right or up front. I can see him becoming a regular goalscorer and his pace from out wide gives us another option."

The boss indicated that Cotterill's will add depth to the squad, whilst he is also pleased to add an element of raw talent to his squad:

"His versatility gives us the chance to switch things about depending on the situation, and the competition for places that his arrival gives us should bring the best out of the other lads.

"All our wingers have different qualities and David's arrival also gives us that bit more variety on the flanks. There is no room for lapses now; everyone must be on their toes and performing when they are in the team."

The Blades boss is satisfied with his recruitment drive in recent weeks and knows it could be vital by the time May comes around:

"We have got a few players in recently and will need that strength in depth between now and the end of the season with all the midweek games coming up."
