Boss wants to build momentum

Posted on: Mon 28 Jan 2008

Bryan Robson is hoping that the FA Cup victory over Manchester City will give his team a platform on which to build.

The United manager is looking for another positive performance when Watford roll into town for a Coca Cola Championship encounter on Tuesday evening.

"As a manager you want to win football matches, regardless of the competition, and the victory against City was pleasing for everyone connected with the club after the derby defeat," said Robson.

"We have beaten two Premiership clubs this season in the FA Cup so we must keep that form going and build some momentum in the league until the end of the season.

"I hoped that I would get a positive reaction, and that competition places I have talked about makes sure you get that after a failure."

The transfer deadline is looming and ahead of the encounter with Watford, the Blades chief added: "I have said all along that I want to keep the squad together and add to if possible. We are desperate to get on a good run and climb the league.

"Despite that, there may be a couple moving out, but that depends on circumstances and clubs wanting to take our players."
