Blades impress boss

Posted on: Wed 02 Jan 2008

Bryan Robson highlighted a number of impressive individual displays - including that of new signing Gary Speed - after Tuesday's goal-less draw at Wolves.

Midfield ace Speed, 38, made his Blades debut at Molineux and looked assured as United kicked off the new year with a point.

"It was decent performance from Gary and it was a terrific strike early on. I also thought that Lee Hendrie, for his first game back, was decent."

Robson added: "I thought Rob Hulse held the ball up well in the first half and brought the midfielders into play, that's pleasing. He only did 90 minutes the other day and if James Beattie had have been fit I'd have liked to have kept Rob on the bench."

The Blades chief made a number changes following the defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend. As well as Speed and Hendrie, he included Leigh Bromby and dropped Chris Lucketti, Nick Montgomery and Keith Gillespie to the bench.
