Conceptual images of what a re-developed and extended Kop at Sheffield United could look like have been released by the club.

The Blades stress that designs are at an early stage. The intention is to work up more comprehensive proposals in the next few months in consultation with local authority planners.

Up to 3,000 new seats in the Frasers Kop are being considered - taking the overall stadium capacity to around 36,000. Last season United were the 11th best supported club in the Premier League and currently top the Championship attendances league table.

Chief Executive Jason Rockett said: "We are still at a very early stage and we welcome comments. The images reflect some early discussions which have centred on increasing the stadium capacity and at the same time providing other facilities which will enhance the business."

The proposals, being drawn-up in conjunction with Chesterfield-based architects WCEC, also include a new business centre between the Kop and the GAC Stand, new executive boxes at the top of the Fortina Spa Stand, plus mixed use development on the Cherry Street/Shoreham Street and John Street/Shoreham Street corners, incorporating residential accommodation and ground floor retail and leisure uses.
