Partnership's healthy growth

Posted on: Thu 29 Nov 2007

Blades defender Matt Kilgallon is happy to have formed a reliable partnership with on-loan Aston Villa man Gary Cahill at the heart of the Blades defence.

Kilgallon and Cahill have developed an impressive link as the Blades last line of defence and the former Leeds man feels the duo share many similarities in their style of play.

He began: "We work well together and play in a similar way. We both want to show everybody that we are good young defenders who want to do well for Sheffield United, as we aim for promotion back to the Premiership."

Killa then praised the support of Chris Morgan and Chris Lucketti as the experienced pair help the two youngsters through several aspects of the game.

The defender continued: "Skip and Lucketti are great, they both have experience and Gary and I have both learnt a lot form them. There is no whispering between us and we aim to help each other all the time."

On his personal performances Matt feels he is starting to show his true worth to the United faithful and admits he is maturing with age, reserving special praise for his team-mates' contribution during the recent up turn in results

He concluded: "I want to perform and show my ability, as a defence we are developing an understanding, but we couldn't do it without the rest of the team. Everything is gelling together and we are starting to get the results now."
