Del gets Boss's vote

Posted on: Thu 30 Aug 2007

Bryan Robson says he would provide Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton with a glowing appraisal of full back Derek Geary.

Geary is yet to make his bow for the Republic's senior squad and will this season hope to impress Staunton's scouts who have their eyes on the Coca-Cola Championship.

The tigerish and versatile defender received a long overdue call-up, in the summer of 2007, to a weakened full Republic squad for their tour of America in May 2006 but had to withdraw due to injury.

Robson said: "If the international manager (Staunton) wanted to speak to me, we'd have no hesitation in recommending Del to him.

"Del is tenacious, quick, and determined and he has every chance of getting in to the Republic squad if he carries on the way he's doing."
