Doncaster is one of the oldest established centres for horse racing in Britain, with records of regular race meetings going back to the 16th century. In 1600 the corporation tried to put an end to the races because of the number of ruffians they attracted, but by 1614 it acknowledged failure and instead marked out a racecourse.
Doncaster has the distinction of both starting and ending the flat season on turf. Every September, Doncaster hosts the prestigious four-day St. Leger Festival, which is acclaimed as the premier sporting occasion of the Autumn calender. Doncaster has also taken over events whose traditional homes have closed, such as the Lincoln in 1965.
After a £34 million redevelopment, racegoers now enjoy a whole new experience at this world class venue.

- Car Parking is available in Car Park 'C' (Free of Charge) and Car Park 'A' (£5 per vehicle).
- Up to three children (U18's) per paying adult will be allowed FREE ENTRY into the racecourse on race days. U18's cannot be admitted to the racecourse without an accompanying paying adult.
- Doncaster Racecourse operates under the Challenge 21 policy. Please be aware that if you look under 21 and you attempt to purchase or consume alcohol you will be asked to provide photographic proof of age.
- Our Grandstand Enclosure has no specific dress code and guests are welcome to wear jeans and sportswear in that area. If however, you wish to upgrade to our County Enclosure please be aware that NO DENIM, SPORTSWEAR OR TRAINERS
ARE PERMITTED AND GENTLEMEN MUST WEAR A COLLARED SHIRT.
- No food or alcohol can be brought onto the racecourse within the Grandstand or County Enclosures.
