United's miserable run of luck and form continued at Blackpool on Tuesday evening.

Unbeaten at home, Blackpool produced a tremendous second half display and were rewarded with goals from Marcel Seip, Jason Euell and Charlie Adam.

The Blades had chances but were unable to break down the Tangerine wall and the 857 Unitedites that made the trip were just thankful that the rain that descended on Lancashire in the afternoon had subsided before they took to their uncovered seats.

Chief Blackwell made four changes to the side that was beaten at the weekend. Loanee Cresswell, France, Cotterill and Taylor all started with Stewart, Little and Evans dropping to the bench. Defender Davies was ruled out with a knee injury. Williamson was also amongst the substitutes, included for the first time after a back complaint. Blackpool, surprisingly, made a total of seven changes, despite a home win over Plymouth just three days earlier.

The personnel on show suggested a 4-5-1 formation and that was quickly confirmed after kick-off with Henderson up front, supported from the flanks by Cotterill and Cresswell.
Against the wind in the first half, United created the first half chance on five minutes. Quinn's pass was on Henderson's favoured left foot but the scuffed shot was comfortable for Gilks, although the goalkeeper needed two attempts to gather.

Taylor-Fletcher and Ormerod attempted to work openings for the home side but Taylor and Walker snuffed out the danger, whilst Euell headed wide Eardley's cross at the near post on 15 minutes.

Morgan's flicked header from Walker's long throw was caught under the crossbar by the home goalkeeper, who was then called upon again on 20 minutes. Taylor's pass was helped on by Quinn and from Henderson's shot, again with his left, Gilks palmed away.

Blackpool hit back with a spell of pressure and twice Morgan was called into action. Firstly he headed away a cross between two home strikers and then cleared a cross from Eardley after Bunn had clashed with Euell. The home side went close on 32 minutes when a shot from Thomas was deflected just wide by Ormerod after good build-up work from Taylor-Fletcher.

The pendulum swung once more before the interval and the Blades were back on the offensive. Kilgallon headed over a Quinn corner, Henderson shot at the goalkeeper and then, on 42 minutes, Harper drilled in a left-foot, which was also saved by Gilks, diving full length to his left.

The last talking point of first half was a bit of bother following Cresswell's challenge on Eardley, who reacted angrily. Referee Mathieson soon restored order and showed both players a yellow card.

Holloway brought on Vaughan and Adam at the start of the second half and the latter took just 30 seconds to win a free-kick but Eardley curled over the top from 20 yards.

A Baptiste header from Adam's free-kick was at Bunn, whilst a powerful Thomas shot was deflected wide. Interrupting Blackpool's good start to the second period, Walker beat Crainey and Quinn was involved before Harper shot at Gilks.

Blackpool, however, grabbed the initiative on the hour. United were almost caught by a quick free-kick and Harper was forced to concede a corner, from which the opening goal was scored. Vaughan delivered and SEIP's header powered past Bunn.

Backed by a vociferous crowd, Blackpool continued with their momentum and Bunn was forced to tip over from Eardley after a Thomas pull-back but the second home goal soon followed. Eardley attacked down the right and picked out an unmarked EUELL, who slid the ball home, despite the United goalkeeper getting a hand to it.

Baptiste struck wide from another corner before United introduced Evans and Treacy, the latter striking a deflected free-kick into the arms of Gilks - summing up the visiting side's luck.

Adam tested his arm from 40 yards, which had Bunn tracking back anxiously before seeing the ball dropped onto the roof of the net, then Ormerod half-volleyed wide.

Blackpool's impressive second half display continued into the last ten minutes and the home side added a third. Thomas held off three players before laying off for ADAM to strike low into the bottom corner.

Henderson fired wide late on and three minutes of injury-time were incident-less, although positively, Williamson was introduced for his debut on the right of midfield.
