It was a night of firsts as United finally conquered the Walkers Stadium.

Danny Webber's second half poacher's goal was enough to give the Blades a first win at what has been Leicester's home since 2002.

Not only was it United's first win at the Walkers Stadium, but it was the first time Bryan Robson's team had kept a clean sheet on the road, it was the first away win of the season and the first away win of 2007.

Robson started with the team that finished Saturday's draw with Preston. Shelton and Webber joined Beattie in attack and Tonge was added to the midfield. Once the action began, Leicester had the best of the opening five minutes but all they had to show for it was a curling Sheehan effort, which failed to trouble Kenny.

On nine minutes another long range attempt, this time by McAuley, was relatively easy for Kenny, whilst Bardsley came to United's rescue soon after when Fryatt was poised to pull the trigger.

Leicester lost their captain, Clemence, through injury before the 20-minute mark and Shelton's pace won United a first corner of the night but the home side cleared.

United's first shot in anger arrived on 26 minutes. Bardsley tried his luck from 25-yards and may have been off target but Fulop took no chances and diverted the ball around the post for a corner, which Cahill subsequently headed over.

Just after the half hour Fryatt got the better of Kilgallon but curled wide and then the home side made their second enforced change of the night when Campbell limped off and John was introduced for his debut sooner than he would have anticipated.

Play was stopped to enable Kenny to receive treatment following a clash with Cahill and despite attempting to carry on, the goalkeeper was forced into limping off. Fortunately, Robson had named Bennett on the bench and he took over in goal.

Armstrong hit the deck moments later and needed treatment before he could continue but the barrage of injuries forced the officials to add five extra minutes at the end of the first half.

Fryatt curled wide of Bennett's left post and substitute John half-volleyed over the crossbar when Tonge missed a header before the break.

Early in the second half Bardsley did well to get a 20-yard effort at goal but Fulop was well placed to save and moments later the goalkeeper plucked the first corner of the half out of the air.

United had begun the second half in better fashion and were rewarded with the lead on 56 minutes. Gillespie's shot was blocked but Bardsley picked up the ball on the right and threaded a low cross for WEBBER to convert after getting ahead of his marker. The celebrations took place in one corner of the Walkers Stadium in front of appreciative Unitedites.

Leicester used their third and final substitution just after the hour mark but the visitors were on top and looking the most dangerous.

On 68 minutes Beattie chased his own flick-on and hammered a difficult chance just over the with the goalkeeper approaching and then Cahill headed over again from a Gillespie inswinging free-kick.

Leicester's first serious chance of the second half arrived with 15 minutes to go. From Sheehan's free-kick on the left, McAuley and Kisnorbo attacked the same ball, which eventually flew wide.

On 83 minutes the travelling fans thought United had registered a second but a linesman's flag halted the celebrations. Beattie headed home, following good work by Cahill and Webber, but the effort was chalked off.

Shelton almost pounced on a mistake in the Leicester defence a moment later, whilst the home side finished the game with ten men, effectively, as John could only limp around. Home boss Megson had already used his allocation of replacements.

United comfortably negotiated the final minutes, included three extra for injury-time, and went over to celebrate with the fans at the final whistle, whilst the home supporters voiced their displeasure.
