Global round-up

Posted on: Mon 13 Dec 2010

United's Australian cousins, the Central Coast Mariners, remain well in touch with the Hyundai A-League top three after a hard fought 1-1 draw with Perth Glory in their week 18 encounter.

Goals at either end of the 90 minutes ensured the points would be shared in what was an exciting and often torrid encounter.

Former Mariner Josh Mitchell fired his side ahead just four minutes in before veteran Dutchman Patrick Zwaanswijk proved the hero for the Mariners, bobbing up with three minutes remaining of normal time to head home his third of the campaign.

"Overall Glory were probably the better side but we will take a point," said Mariners Head Coach Graham Arnold, who now turns his attentions to next Sunday's trip to Gold Coast United.

Ferencvaros are on their winter break, whilst Chengdu Blades' season is over and they are preparing for life back in the Chinese Super League.
