Injury fears decreased

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010

United's injury situation has been given a slight boost by the update on the three injuries sustained at Peterborough on Tuesday night. But all three will be unavailable for the immediate future.

Kevin Blackwell saw Ched Evans (suspected broken collar bone), Lee Williamson and Jamie Ward (both hamstrings) subbed off by the interval and feared the worse, but has been cheered by yesterday's scan results:

"The Peterborough doctor feared that Ched had suffered a break but in fact the collision disturbed the joint so rather than three months he could be back in a month and a half.

"That would be two weeks of doing nothing, two of build-up work and than another two weeks of training before being available to us, if things went well.

"Wardy's hamstring damage is between a grade one and grade two, which could be worse, and we hope he will recover in about three weeks.

"Lee's is less serious and although it is very doubtful that he can make Saturday, there is a chance he could be considered for Tuesday night against Blackpool because the estimate on him is seven to ten days."
