Kevin Blackwell has nailed his colours to the mast and confirmed that Arsene Wenger is a manager whose style and beliefs he would most like to emulate.
The enigmatic Frenchman has maintained a lengthy tenure, built Championship winning sides, pioneered an attractive style of football but still, in recent months, received some criticism for not challenging the top two.
Despite the United boss spending his managerial career in more financially pragmatic circumstances, he believes that Wenger's is one that he can learn from:
"I try to look at people who do their jobs well - I want to know what they do and how they do it, and if I can bring some of that to this Club I will.
"Naturally, I would like more expansive players like he has and I have been impressed by how he has handled things at Arsenal - yet when they lost a few games some of the fans turned on him.
Having enjoyed success on the park Blackwell feels that the Gunners' fans expected it to carry on when the decision to move was undertaken, but it left Wenger without all the tools he needed to maintain on-field success:
"His club moved from Highbury to the Emirates, incurring massive debt and he still had to build a new team, but fans were telling him stuff he already knew - that happens to a lot of us.
"We know what is right and the fans can see what the team needs want. To be fair, they are nearly always right, but we have to deal with the situation as it is."
