Ferencvaros 2-1 MTK- match report

Posted on: Mon 14 Sep 2009

Ferencvaros beat Budapest rivals MTK at the weekend to climb the NB I table.

More than 6,000 spectators were inside the Florian Albert Stadion to see Fradi's victory oust MTK from the top of the league and move Bobby Davison's side move up to ninth.

Liban Abdi, back at Ferencvaros on loan from the Blades for the remainder of the season, struck the crossbar before Istvan Ferenczi netted the first goal with a header on 29 minutes.

Denes Rosa, another Hungarian international, added the second just five minutes later after receiving a pass from Abdi.

Lencse reduced the arrears for MTK eight minutes after the break, but the home side's defence held firm late on to record a memorable victory and boost confidence ahead of the midweek Hungarian Cup tie against MTK's second team.
