Blades glory, Owls defeat

The Blades convincingly saw off the first Sheffield Wednesday challenge of the season, defeating them by 56 runs in the cricket match at Abbeydale Park on Thursday night.

Neil Warnock won the toss, elected to bat and his team responded by posting 146 for 4 in their 20 overs, with the Owls then restricted to 90 for 8.

Leigh Bromby (25) and Phil Barnes (30) both 'retired' undefeated during their innings or United's total might have been even more challenging.

Michael Tonge and Academy fitness coach Kevin Paxton then did the damage, each recording figures of 3 wickets for ten runs.

Most uncomfortable player at the end of the night was Nick Montgomery - he dropped Owls boss Paul Sturrock off the bowling of Neil Warnock!
