Pitch up at our soccer camps this Easter

Posted on: Wed 21 Mar 2012

Budding footballers will be given a chance to kick-start their careers and show off their skills at Sheffield United's soccer camps this Easter holiday.

The United Initiative are staging their latest soccer camps in and around the Sheffield region where participants can show their ability in a wide range of activities and exercises, from passing and shooting to dribbling and ball control.

Football Camps will be held at the Derek Dooley Sports and Community Centre, Crookes, the Tideswell Sports Complex, Tideswell, and the Gosforth Valley Playing Fields, Dronfield.

Over the Easter fortnight, all the sporting activities will take place from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 April 2012 and Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 April. Camps at the Derek Dooley Sports and Community Centre and Gosforth Valley will run from 9.30am to 3pm and from 10am to 3.15pm at Tideswell.

There is also a girls camp running at the Derek Dooley Sports and Community Centre Crookes for all eight days too.

Former United player, Mark Todd, pictured, who is now community development manager, said: "The soccer camps are very inclusive and have proved to be really popular with sporty kids looking for an exciting way to spend half-term. It's also a great way for youngsters to meet new friends and to stay fit and healthy.

"In addition, the camps have proved to be a great opportunity for youngsters to show their potential to coaching staff who are always looking for budding football stars to refer to the Sheffield United development centre."

All the camps are open to children aged five to 14-years-old and are run by The United Initiative's professional coaching staff. The children's skills are developed through specific coaching sessions in the morning, before spending the afternoon playing in small sided games and world cup competitions.

Children attending will need to water, appropriate kit (moulded boots/trainers, shinpads etc) and a packed lunch.

Prices start from £12 per day or £40 for a full week and a ten per cent sibling discount is on offer for families. Children booking on both weeks will only pay a fantastic offer of £70.
