Bid to become the first 2010 Mascot for charity

Posted on: Mon 02 Nov 2009

Sheffield United fans can win the chance for a 'mini-Blade' to become the Club's very first Team Mascot of 2010.

The Sheffield United Mascot Lowest Bid Auction will be launched by Sheffield Hospital charity, Neurocare, on 2nd November with the winner announced in December, in time to make the lucky winner's New Year wish come true.

Rather than bidding high, entrants for this competition need to bid low in a reverse auction that will see the person who makes the lowest unique bid crowned with an exclusive prize worth £350.

Winners will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to proudly lead the Red and White Wizards out onto the pitch for their first home league game of the year, on 16th January against Middlesbrough.

The lucky United mascot will then receive five-star treatment when they will be taken on a tour of the stadium, get to meet the players and be showered with amazing prizes including a full home kit, signed photograph and free match tickets.

Neurocare is a charity which supports the Neurosciences department at Sheffield's Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

It raises money to buy equipment for a range of debilitating neurological conditions including brain tumours, strokes, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

Lesley Eland, chief executive of Neurocare, said: "There are limited number of mascots per year who get to grace the turf of Bramall Lane, so this is a real chance to win something unique.

"We are really grateful that Sheffield United have given Neurocare the opportunity to raise some money, while offering a fabulous prize to one lucky child."

The prize is for a child aged between 5 to 12 years old and bidders should send in their bid money with a completed application form, to the Neurocare Office, Lydgate House, Lydgate Lane, Sheffield, S10 5FH.

The closing date is 11 December 2009 at 5pm. The winner of the competition will be notified by telephone on Friday 18 December and their name and bid amount will be announced on the Neurocare website.

Bidding forms are also available from the SUFC shop, ticket office and receptions.
