Sheffield United received a helping hand from a team of volunteers at their match against Cardiff in the run up to the UK's single biggest day of volunteering.
More than 70 people gave their support to the Community Service Volunteers (CSV) charity by working at Bramall Lane ahead of the national Make a Difference Day, which takes place on Saturday 31st October.
The volunteers helped the club stage a variety of family friendly activities before the Championship clash, which was designated by the Blades as their Kick it Out 'One game, One community' match.
Volunteers included students from The Sheffield College, Sheffield University Faculty of Health and Well-being and The University of Sheffield Football Club. All helped to set up a display of more than 50 flags from countries around the world in the Westfield Upper Tier at Bramall Lane.
Kickz volunteers assisted with a Kick it Out flag parade before the game, while members from Football Unites Racism Divides and Woodseats Boxing Club also went along to show their support in distributing posters, leaflets and stickers around the ground.
Sue Beeley, head of community at Sheffield United said: "It seemed an ideal opportunity to link our 'One game, one community' match with the 'Make a Difference' day activity, bringing football and the community together.
"We know how much energy people in Sheffield have to towards the game and in helping others. We were delighted to have such strong-spirited people down here for the day."
Last year more than 167,064 people gave their time as volunteers through CSV to show the positive impact that giving time to benefit others can have and to show the importance of community spirit in tough times
