Blades muck-in with pupils at Whirlow Farm

Posted on: Wed 28 Oct 2009

Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn joined children from Pipworth School on a week-long educational trip to Whirlow Hall Farm.

The first-team star met pupils from the school during a tour of the farm where the youngsters learned more about where food comes from.

Youngsters took part in hands-on farming, pony riding, as well as taking care of the animals during their week-long residential visit

Pupils from Pipworth School were able to make the unique educational visit after the school received sponsorship from United to be able to fund the trip.

Whirlow Hall Farm Trust is one of the United's eleven charities they have chosen to support during the 2009/10 season.

Joan Ward, head of fundraising at Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, said: "Stephen and the children from Pipworth really got stuck in on the farm.

"The residential stays are a brilliant opportunity for the kids to get out of the city and into the countryside. It will be a week that will stay with them for a very long time and the backing from United to the school has made it all possible."
