The achievements of youngsters and volunteers from a community project in Sheffield were celebrated at the Kickz Awards.
The Sheffield United event was held at The Hub on Sitwell Road in Sharrow to recognise the achievements of tens of youngsters involved with Kickz during the last year.
Kickz provides activities for more than 600 youngsters aged 12 to 19 in the Sharrow and Broomhall areas of the city, offering the chance to get involved in sports, volunteering, educational courses, youth clubs and dance.
United star Stephen Quinn gave Outstanding Participation Awards to Ellie Harrison, Jasmine Mcanuff, Kabir Khan and Reece Clarke while team mate Mark Yeates presented Volunteer of the Year accolades to Amelia Ellaway-Fido and Mohammed Kabadeh. Mohammed will now attend the National Kickz Awards at Aston Villa's stadium in February after being chosen as Sheffield United's representative for the event.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Alan Law, presented participation awards to 16 girls and boys.
Awards for the Most Inspiring Male and Female were presented by former Premier League referee Uriah Rennie to Dominic Lowman and Queen Uwacu.
The Partner of the Year Award was presented to FURD (Football United Racism Divided) by the club's Chairman Chris Steer and United's Head of Community Sue Beeley.
And Wayne Allen achieved the Staff Member of the Year accolade after showing significant dedication to his football coach and youth worker role at United.
Keith Ward, Kickz coordinator, said: "The awards were a fantastic success and highlighted the achievements of everyone involved. The ceremony also gives youngsters something to aim for and there was a real sense of achievement amongst the winners.
"The project has been running since 2007 and has become a hugely important community initiative. We feel it is no coincidence that that since it was launched crime and anti-social behaviour in the area has reduced."
The event was attended by representatives from other Kickz partners including the Sharrow Safer Neighbourhood Team, Broomhall Forum, Sheffield City Council, Highlander IT and Activity Sheffield.
