Tens of children from the Derwent Valley attended a successful United summer soccer camp, with two potential future Blades being discovered.
Youngsters Louie Davies and Tyrone Jones impressed enough to be selected for Sheffield United's development centre after attending the camp ran by the United Initiative at Lady Manners School, Bakewell.
The camp was the first to be held outside the city with 65 children attending the sessions over two weeks, receiving expert coaching from former Blade Adrian Littlejohn and son Reece, Community Coach at the United Initiative.
Mark Todd, community development manager at the United Initiative said: "I am absolutely delighted that this new initiative has been such a success and will be certainly repeating it next summer. We saw some great talent on show too and the fact that Louie and Tyrone will be joining the development centre shows that by coming to a camp shows anything is possible.
"The setting at Lady Manners School was fantastic with all the youngsters really enjoying themselves, and this is a further development to the links already established with Derwent Valley Junior Football League."
The expansion of the soccer camps to the Derwent Valley, which saw an average of 27 attendees each day, confirms United's aim to provide coaching and opportunities to connect with the club to even more youngsters.
Mrs Jones, mother of 11-year-old Tyrone, who attends Lady Manners School said:
"I would like to compliment everyone who has been running the United Initiative football camp at Lady Manners School in Bakewell. In my opinion it has been extremely well organised and the best one that my son has ever attended, I hope there will be more like it in the future. I would like to say a very big thank you to all those involved!"
All children were given a voucher or ticket for a United game as part of the club's 'Fans of the Future' initiative, a kit bag and certificate of attendance.
Specific coaching was provided in the mornings, and in the afternoon youngsters got to show off their skills against each other in small sided games.
