A charity football day to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support is set to be 'boot-ilicious!'
United has teamed up with the Sheffield Field Sales team at Kraft Foods and convenience store Singh's Premier to host a fun day of activity at Bramall Lane on Saturday 19 May.
An eleven-a-side tournament involving four teams from Kraft Foods, Singh's Premier and Booker Wholesale will take place on the pitch, followed by five-a-side games for youngsters, stalls and activities.
The kids' teams taking part in the event include Ecclesfield Spartan U8s, Norton Lees U8s, Sheffield Rangers U7s and Beighton Magpies U7s.
The day will run from 12-4pm and is free to attend, with all proceeds from bucket collections, raffles and programme sales all going to Macmillan.
John Burkhill, Olympic torch bearer and relentless Macmillan fundraiser, will be in attendance to support the event and be on hand to receive more donations to add to the £135,000 he has already raised for the charity.
Mandeep Singh from Singh's Premier has organised the event with Blades fan Roxy Levick, field sales development executive at Kraft Foods, as part of the food store's constant support for Macmillan.
Roxy said: "Mandeep and Singh's Premier have done a lot of activity for Macmillan in recent years and were keen to host a football tournament to generate further funds for the charity. Working with Sheffield United, Kraft Foods is delighted to support the event.
"The day has grown to become more than staging a football tournament, with a host of events and stalls for local people to enjoy. Beautiful downtown Bramall Lane is the perfect venue and we hope as many people as possible come along and give their support to a worthwhile cause."
The day is one of a number of community events being staged at Bramall Lane once the Blades' Football League season has been completed.
