Chengdu Blades 1-0 Jiangsu Shuntian - report
Australian striker Brendon Santalab scored the only goal of the game as Chengdu Blades secured their CSL status with three vital points against Jiangsu Shuntian over the weekend.
The Blades started positively, despite missing former Blades defender Sun Jihai through injury, with Wang Song heading narrowly over.
Chengdu were forced into a substitution when Zhang Yuan was injured trying to get on the end of a Zou Yougen centre.
In the 40th minute the hosts took a deserved lead. Zou Yougen sent the ball into the area and after the Jiangsu keeper couldn't clear the ball, SANTALAB took advantage and applied the finishing touch.
The visitors threw caution to the wind in the second-half, but Chengdu rarely looked like succumbing to the pressure.
The Blades are now in 10th position in the table, with two games remaining.
