Chengdu Blades have announced Wang Baoshan as their new manager and he started with a win as the Blades made it two matches unbeaten with a 2-1 success over Guangzhou Yiyao in the 8th round of the Chinese Super League.

Looking at his first game in charge Baoshan was understandably delighted with the three points and he believes Chengdu's current league position gives a false impression of the ability within the squad:

"I really enjoyed my first win and it was particularly important because we had only won once this season. This is a big challenge for me, but I am already enjoying it.

"The players gave me 100% and they deserve a lot of credit. I strongly believe that we are far better than what the table suggests right now."

Chairman Tony Xu added, "I believe Wang Baoshan in the right person to take our club forward.

"He is a very experienced manager in China and who gains plenty of respect. He understands this club well and has got a long-term development plan for the first-team and youth players."

Chengdu are next in action on Saturday, when the face Dalian in round nine of the CSL, Wang Baoshan and his players will leave Chengdu on Thursday.
