Li Bing on promotion
Chengdu Blades boss Li Bing says that there is still much work to be done if the Blades are to win promotion to the Chinese Super League.
The Chengdu Blades currently lie second in the Jia League on 35 points, but they have endured a frustrating start to the second half of their season, managing to pick up only five points since returning from the mid-season break.
A 2-1 reverse against main championship rivals Guangzhou Guangyao last weekend was Chengdu's first defeat of the campaign.
Li Bing, who highlighted certain defensive deficiencies, said: "In our three home matches since the season restart we have conceded first in all three matches, and that is the problem.
"I think some of our players may have been satisfied with their achievement in the first half of the season and then didn't realise that the second half may be more difficult."
Chengdu have conceded five goals in the last four matches, and the Blades manager isn't satisfied with the performances of his defence.
"Our defenders have made some mistakes in the matches, which have cost us."
Eight matches remain for the Blades this season, but Li Bing reckons that it is still too early to talk conclusively about promotion.
He said: "It is too early to talk about promotion. We have eight matches remaining - four at home and four away - but we must concentrate in each match until the final whistle.
"We must learn from our last four matches - there is no place for mistakes. If we can do this then we may have a brighter future."
