The Central Coast Mariners continue their preparations for the forthcoming season this weekend, as they begin their 2008 Pre-Season Cup against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.

United have a partnership agreement with the Australian outfit which is based on the coast north of Sydney and is one of the nation's top teams.

The tournament this weekend, which also sees the Mariners face Sydney FC and Queensland Roar, is ideal preparation for Lawrie McKinna's squad as they look to hit the ground running in the Hyundai A-League.

Defender and Qantas Socceroo prospect Dean Heffernan will put his latest injury setback behind him against Wellington, whilst new signing David D'Apuzzo is also likely to feature after signing his first professional contract.
