Carl is a long-term and well-respected member of the football staff, having started at the club in 1998, during Steve Bruce's rein as manager.

Carl, who is assisted by his brother Jason and Derek Newbould, is now in charge of all aspects of team wear and is responsible for transporting kit, boots and other accessories, including the intricate preferences of individual players, to and from the training ground at Shirecliffe and to away fixtures.
