United's U18s registered their first three points of the season with an impressive all-round team performance against Coventry City on Saturday.
Jordan Slew scored the only goal of the game for the Blades just after the half hour, in a first-half the visitors dominated from start to finish.
From the off United kept possession well and attacked with flair. After a move that included at least 20 passes Slew burst inside his marker only to see his shot well saved.
The striker was causing the Sky Blues defence numerous problems with his pace and power and after Harriett had shot wide, Slew came even closer to putting United in front but again he was kept at bay following some neat build-up play.
It wasn't until the 32nd minute that the Blades dominance reaped its reward. A quick throw-in found Ironside with his back to goal, he linked up with his striker partner SLEW, who turned and fired home with the aid of a deflection.
The second-half saw the home side enjoy more possession, although Long was rarely called upon, as Maguire and Kennedy marshalled the backline well, despite the increasing pressure.
The Blades were always a threat on the break, with Slew again the main outlet and even though they couldn't add to their lead the win came much to the delight of Academy Manager John Pemberton:
"I am really pleased with the performance and the points, we felt we deserved at least a point against Reading, but this win was fully deserved without a doubt.
"It is always nice to win but we can take more satisfaction out of the performance, because we kept the ball excellently, especially in the first-half when we could have put the game to bed if we had taken our chances."
Against the same opposition, United's U16's ran out worthy 2-0 victors to make it a perfect double for Academy.
