Sao Paulo clinch Pele Challenge trophy
In front of the world's greatest footballer, Brazilian side Sao Paulo won the Pele Challenge.
Pele watched the final game of the tournament - Sao Paulo beating the Blades - at Bramall Lane on Thursday but the Brazilians had already won the trophy before the final encounter.
A 2-0 victory over the Blades cemented their 100 per cent record. Bruno and Roni went close before Julinho hit a post. Sao Paulo finally made their pressure pay, however, on 21 minutes when Rafael's through ball was clipped home by Bruno.
United attempted to get back into the game in the second half and Askham and trialist Barrera went close before Sao Paulo added a second on 43 minutes. Oscar took the credit but his shot from the edge of the box was aided by a wicked deflection.
To United's credit, the home side continued to battle and Gordon was only denied a consolation goal thanks to a brave point-blank block from Paulo.
Earlier on Thursday, Manchester United completed the tournament with a 4-0 success over FC Porto - mainly thanks to two goals from Evandro, who hails from Portugal. Macheda and Curran were also on target for the Red Devils.
The three-day U17s competition has been a success. The majority of games were played at United's Shirecliffe Academy, whilst the final game acted as a prelude to the Sheffield FC v Inter Milan fixture.
