United's U18s ended their FA Premier Academy League campaign with a resounding victory over Nottingham Forest at Shirecliffe.
After taking the lead through an own-goal, the Blades dominated with Joe Ironside, Max Pemberton and Ottis Khan adding their names to the scoresheet, much to John Pemberton's delight:
"We were very good and in the end our margin of victory could and should have been greater.
"Our starting line-up included two schoolboys but everyone deserves credit for playing their part in such a dominant performance.
"It is always nice to win but to go into the summer on the back of such a good performance and result is especially pleasing."
The Blades opened the scoring early on, when Whitehouse's floated free-kick from the left was headed into his own net by the unfortunate Forest defender.
Before the break United netted a deserved second when IRONSIDE headed home the loose ball after Smith's shot from the right had rebounded down off the underside of the crossbar.
Just after the hour mark, United further strengthened their grip on the game with the goal of the match. PEMBERTON looped the ball over his marker, before unleashing an unstoppable volley from 25 yards.
Shortly after replacing Heather, KHAN rounded off a superb counter attack to make it four, with Smith, Ironside and Pemberton all involved in the build-up.
Blades: Willis, Hodder, Ptak (J. Williams 71), Pemberton, Salt, Barry, Heather (Khan 77), Whitehouse, Ironside, Smith, De Girulamo.
Unused: Scarsbrick, Lynch.
