Morton to take over the Centre of Excellence

Posted on: Wed 01 Feb 2012

Sheffield United Girls Centre of Excellence (SUGCOE), one of the Football Association's Elite Centres of Excellence, has a new Technical Director.

Tony Morton, with more than 30 years experience in football coaching including positions at Rotherham United and Sheffield United, takes up the appointment, bringing experience and contacts through his work at the FA as a licensed tutor.

He has also trained future coaches and steered developments and changes in the (women's) game to deliver successful players.

Tony said: "I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with all the age groups and coaches to build on the excellent foundations that are in place at SUGCOE. My aim is to offer female players in our region a fantastic opportunity to compete at the top level in women's academy football and an opportunity to enhance their skills and technical abilities in Britain's fastest growing sport."
