Pemberton appointed

Posted on: Tue 23 Mar 2010

Former Blade John Pemberton will be the Blades' new Academy Manager when he takes up the post on 4th May.

The Club received numerous strong applications and after a rigorous recruitment process it was felt that he was the best man to take the Academy forward.

Pemberton, 45, played for United in the top flight under Dave Bassett between 1990-93 and has a strong attachment to the Club.

He has achieved notable success in youth development at Nottingham Forest, and more recently has been working with England U19's. Currently, he is assisting Paul Hart at Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

Sheffield United is very proud of what the Academy has already achieved. As our future depends on successful youth development we believe that John's enthusiasm, ambition and new ideas will help drive it to new heights.
