Sheffield United Ladies entertained Jersey Ladies FA in a "Friendship Game" at a sun drenched Bramall Lane on Sunday, in front of a healthy crowd.
Continuing the development of the Ladies game, Jersey the Island Cup holders travelled to Sheffield as part of their build up to defend the trophy and help build their profile as they seek UEFA recognition.
An evenly matched, competitive first-half saw few chances for either side. However, shortly after the break Blades skipper Ruddach volleyed home from close range at the Kop end to open the scoring.
Jersey responded and played their way back into the game before a twice taken free kick on the edge of the box saw player-coach Botterill fire into the bottom corner.
With both teams pressing for the winner it was left to United's Froggatt to fire home what proved to be the winner with 10 minutes remaining after a corner wasn't cleared by the visitors.
United Vice-President Graham Moore, a guest of honour at the game, said: "We were delighted to host the Jersey FA Ladies Team who were great ambassadors for the Island."
Charlie Browne of the Jersey FA who travelled with the team added: "The girls thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and we look forward to meeting the Blades team again in Jersey and thank you for your wonderful hospitality, it was a privilege and pleasure to meet your all."
The United Ladies are just one win away from securing promotion with 3 games remaining. Hopefully this will see them in the WPL Midland Division next season just 2 levels from the Women's Super League (WSL).
