David Weir told the media on Friday that he has enjoyed his first week of working with the Blades players.
Pre-season training kicked off this week and the new United chief commented: "I've been very impressed with the buy-in from the players, in terms of taking on board our early ideas.
"Myself and the staff cannot ask for more than the boys have given us in terms of work rate and we are looking forward to doing more next week.
"I can honestly say that I've not seen any signs or picked up any vibes of a hangover from last season, I've been pleased with what I've seen so far.
"Over the first couple of days, I've been trying to get to know the boys, getting across how I would like to play and how I see pre-season panning out. I think I've managed to get across what I want from them and all is part of getting them into the habit of working hard and winning matches."
Weir takes the players to Scotland in early July as part of the pre-season preparations, playing three games, before returning south of the border for further friendly encounters.
