Danny Wilson could dip into the loan market when the loan window re-opens next week.
The Blades boss, who added Dave Kitson to the ranks last Friday, has admitted his efforts to bolster his squad with loan players failed, but insists the situation could be resolved shortly:
"We will have to wait and see what happens on the loan front.
"We were a little disappointed that a couple of enquiries didn't come to fruition on deadline day, so we will look at the situation again in the next week or so.
"There are a couple of areas we would like to strengthen, if possible."
