Danny Wilson hopes his midfielders will chip in considerably to United's goal tally this season.

David McAllister set the ball rolling with the opening day winner against Shrewsbury Town and the boss knows it will be crucial to United's success.

McAllister, along with Kevin McDonald, Michael Doyle and Stephen Quinn, have been given the nod to make up United's midfield in the league so far this season.

"It's imperative that the midfielders join in with the scoring, we can't just rely on strikers," said Wilson. "It's not really apparent at the moment when we're scoring but the time may come when the midfielders need to chip in a little bit."

Quinn has particularly impressed in the first two league games, playing in an advanced role at Coventry on Tuesday night.

Wilson added: "I think Stephen's assist record is great but to be fair he could score more goals. He is, of course, an integral part of our attack and I'd like to see what he's got in his locker."
