Caolan Lavery (ankle) is expected to be fit for Saturday's clash against leaders Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.
Lavery hopes to shake of the knock which he picked up whilst playing for the U23s in Monday's victory at QPR in time to remain in boss Chris Wilder's matchday 18 for the clash against the Iron.
But fellow forward Leon Clarke (foot) will remain sidelined for the foreseeable future having undergone a scan to determine the exact extent of his injury, which has hampered him in recent weeks.
For the home side, boss Graham Alexander could name an unchanged starting XI for the second game running, following Tuesday's goalless draw against Charlton Athletic.
But if Alexander does opt to change things at the weekend, midfielders Sam Mantom and Richie Smallwood could come into the side, along with winger Hakeb Adelakun.
